Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou katoa/Greetings to you all
We have had such hot weather across the motu (region) until recently and suddenly it is beginning to feel like Autumn here in the mornings. I am slowly getting around to meeting with some of you and would love to hear from you if you would like to touch base, my number is 027 204 6908.
I am yet to make the trip to Gisborne as it is not easy to plan with the ever-changing rules for the way we meet. However, I am hoping that this will happen at some stage perhaps next term as we learn to navigate these ‘unprecedented times.’
Unfortunately, due to the increase in positive Covid-19 cases, we have needed to postpone our in-person events for Foster Care Awareness Week (7-13 March). However, Caring Families Aotearoa are excited to offer two virtual events on Wednesday the 9th of March. Come and join in from the comfort of your home (11am or 8pm). We have an international speaker, Sarah Naish (UK), providing a bespoke presentation for our Caregivers in Aotearoa! Some of you may recognise Sarah from videos we have used in previous trainings, (have a google of her YouTube recordings). I know that you will be in for an entertaining hour. Sarah has lived experience as a foster & adoptive mum and has a unique and entertaining way of sharing her journey. She has a wealth of knowledge about trauma and therapeutic parenting. I hope you can join us for either of the times available. Please click here to register.

Our training “Making Changes-Stability in Hard Times” is a good opportunity to reflect on self-care and the importance of this as a caregiver. This module contains valuable information that might just help you understand yourself and your tamariki and mokopuna more and to help create a calmer, less surprising, family environment to live in. It’s all about the relationship! If you have not yet signed up and would like to, then click here to register.
Take care of yourselves and your whānau
Ngā mihi
Karen
