Makariri me mākū (Cold and wet), are two kupu māori (māori words) we use a lot lately in our whare (house) since having our beautiful two-year-old moko (grandchild) come to stay weekdays with us whilst his māmā works in Tamaki Makaurau (Auckland).  He is bi-lingual so is challenging our grasp of te reo Māori, which is a good thing as it was the language of my mother’s parents but was lost to her.

Te Wiki O te reo Māori (Māori language week) is coming up this month so why not take up the challenge yourself and ‘Karawhiua!’ (Have a go!)

TRAINING

On Wednesday 13th of September at Far North REAP Kaitaia, from 9.30am-1.30pm, I will present What’s Behind the Behaviour trauma-informed training.  You will gain greater insight into why our care experienced tamariki mokopuna might behave the way they do.

We will have kai and time to catch up at the end as it’s a long time since I’ve been to Kaitaia. I’d love to see you there.

Please register through the button below so I know how many to cater for.

EVENTS

I want to come and connect with you. So, I’m planning to come to your local cafe – let me know if you’d like me to host a gathering in your town.

Do you have any other ideas on how to bring caregiver members together?
