nOVEMBER 2023 caregiver news: central north region

Kia ora koutou katoa,

I don’t know about you, but I am always surprised that it is this time of year again! I hope as you think back on what 2023 has involved for you, some of the ‘small wins’ and successes for you and your tamariki come to mind. As you take that calming breath in, to prepare yourself for the rush of the last couple of months of the year, may you have something to look forward to that will pull you through the busyness (for me it’s the hope of some chilled out time on the couch with the kids, a walk through the lovely Redwoods Forrest, or enjoying a new experience of soaking in Waikite Valley Hot Pools!)

REGIONAL HUI UPDATE

Last weekend, I was privileged to be the face of Caring Families Aotearoa for Central North at our Regional Hui.  To see many caregivers and their whānau enjoying a day of connection was an honour to make this opportunity happen.

Right from the start of the day, the whanaungatanga (connection) time, everyone got into the swing of the day.  Thanks to all our helpers with the kids activities, it looked like so much fun!  The adults got to spend time with our speaker Tuihana Ohia from Woo Wellbeing.  Our panel, answering some tough questions, were awesome.  Thanks, Sonia Rapara-Hawkins from Health, Nyvonne Krause, previous Family Home Caregiver and Kaitakawaenga, and Tuihana Ohia for your well thought out answers. 

We then had two great interactive workshops followed by Kai. Well what can I say…. we all had a lovely kai time, and I’d like to personally thank our wonderful cooks and helpers… everyone had full tummies! To end the day we had the opportunity to soak in the beautiful Waikite Valley Hot Pools… WOW… what an experience.  Everyone made the day a memorable one!  My heartfelt THANK YOU.
