Helping Children Feel Safe
providing structure and supervision
Perfect for:
Caregivers who want to learn how to provide the appropriate level of structure and supervision for their child, to help them feel secure.
workshop duration
- FACE TO FACE: 3.5 hours
- ONLINE: Two 1.5 hours sessions over two days
Course Description
Our tamariki (children) come to us with all sorts of vulnerabilities. For some, their emotional age can be very different from their actual age and may change daily as stress levels fluctuate. You will be encouraged to reflect on the structure and supervision that you currently provide to your tamariki.
This workshop will support you in connecting with your tamariki to establish structure and supervision ensuring they feel secure.
Learning Objectives
1. To consider maturity and immaturity, recognising the emotional age of the child.
2. To explore how to use structure and supervision to help the child feel secure.
3. To consider therapeutic parenting and what is an appropriate level of supervision for the child.
What caregivers have to say…
A knowledgeable and empathetic course facilitator who made the attendees feel safe and I enjoyed the intimate setting in which the course was conducted.
I highly recommend other caregivers attending. So helpful.
Lots of things I found helpful: new information plus strengthening my understand of concepts I already knew.

Please Note
Our training delivery is focused during terms 2 and 3, with reduced workshops during terms 1 and 4, as we know this is the busiest time of year for caregivers. We also do not facilitate training during the school holidays. Therefore, during certain periods of the year we have limited courses available on our training calendar.
