L’Oréal for Youth is a fun and inspiring event to help young people growing up in care to figure out the next chapter in their life stories!
This year marks 15 years of the camp and there will be some extra celebrations and amazing speakers!
L’Oréal for Youth 2024 takes place on Wednesday 9th – Thursday 10th October.

What is L’Oréal for Youth?
Hosted by our corporate partner, L’Oréal New Zealand, and in collaboration with us and VOYCE Whakarongo Mai, L’Oréal for Youth is a two day camp that focuses on positive and inspiring stories from people who have pushed through tough times to go on and be super successful in their personal lives, businesses, and careers. There are fun interactive workshops to help rangatahi identify their dreams and unlock the tools to achieve them.
Each participant receives L’Oréal products and has the chance to win some fantastic prizes! But more importantly, the goal of L’Oréal for Youth is that each young person leaves feeling less alone, more confident in themselves, and inspired to reach their ultimate potential!
Eligibility
This two-day event is open to rangatahi (young people) aged between 16-18 years old, who are in the care of caregivers or agencies who are members of Caring Families Aotearoa, and have NOT attended this event previously.
Please note, becoming a member of Caring Families Aotearoa is completely free, and easy to join too. Fill out the membership form HERE.
If your rangatahi is slightly outside of the 16-18 year old age bracket (i.e. 15 or 19 years old), we encourage you to still put through an application form, as we may be able to accept them in exceptional circumstances.
When and Where is it held?
L’Oréal for Youth is held over two days in Auckland, usually around September/October. In 2024 it will be hosted on 9-10th October.
The event is hosted at Camp Motu Moana Blockhouse Bay, Auckland.
Supervision, Accommodation, & Travel
rangatahi living in auckland
Rangatahi who live in Auckland will go home in the evening on the first day, returning for day two. It is the caregiver or social worker’s responsibility to organise transport for your rangatahi to Camp Motu Moana and home again on both days. Special travel arrangements can be provided on request.
rangatahi living outside of auckland
We ask that rangatahi who live outside of Auckland please be accompanied to the camp by their caregiver or social worker.
Rangatahi from outside of Auckland will spend the first night at Camp Motu Moana, with their caregiver or social worker. Accommodation costs will be covered for the rangatahi & their adult.
Thanks to the generosity of L’Oréal, Air New Zealand, some wonderful private donors and Caring Families Aotearoa, funding is available for a limited number of rangatahi and their adults from outside of Auckland to attend L’Oreal for Youth This will include the cost of flights and where necessary accommodation and food on Wednesday 9th October. These funds are available on a first come first served basis.
