Ko Pāku te maunga / the mountain that protects generations of my family is named Pāku.
Ko Tairua te awa / the source of health and wellbeing are from the waters of Tairua.
Ko Tainui te waka / my people journeyed to Aotearoa on the Tainui canoe.
Ko Oturu te marae / a place of safety for my family is called Oturu.
No Tairua ahau / I live in the very beautiful place of Tairua.

Ngā mihi matakuikui e te whānau o Caring Families Aotearoa.

I am the old but new Regional Coordinator for a new region of Caring Families Aotearoa – North East. I have been with Caring Families Aotearoa for nearly six years and previously supported the Auckland South/Waikato/Hauraki region.  In a previous life I was a Family Home Caregiver for CYF and then more recently a Grandparent Raising Grandchildren. It is my absolute pleasure to be able to offer support for our members of this region.  I will work very hard to continue the great work of my predecessors and I look forward to being able to connect with as many of you as possible.

The areas in the North East Region that I am now covering include; Coromandel, Tauranga, Opotiki and the east coast down to Gisborne and out to Hicks Bay. Events

Foster Care Awareness week, (3-9 March) is an annual celebration held every March. It’s a special week that is all about celebrating YOU; our wonderful caregiver members who put in the mahi every day to care for some of Aotearoa’s most vulnerable children.

As I settle into my new region, I want to explore the North East and get out and about and meet up with our caregiving members. I want to take the time to think about the planning of some events to celebrate you, and these will take place later in the year. Keep an eye on the North East Support Facebook page for what’s coming up.
