Kia ora,
Welcome to the Whiringa-ā-nuku (October) Snippets.
We have almost made it through this incredible year and we are on the home straight! I have run out of words to try and say how I feel about the way the world has changed this year. As time goes by, I take more pleasure in the ordinary things in my life that haven’t changed and I find I need to keep closer tabs on my own physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. I hope you are doing the same?

Kia kaha, kia hauora, me kia atawhai / Be strong, be healthy and be kind.
This quote reminds me of the plane analogy “apply your own oxygen mask first so you can help others with theirs”.
Te Wiki o te Reo Maori (Maori Language week) has just finished as I write this. It was great to hear Te Reo being spoken around me by my colleagues, friends, whānau, and TVNZ television). The presenters were amazing. It seems we as a nation are all on a journey (at some level) trying to integrate the use of Te Reo into our day to day lives.
You will see and hear more use of Te Reo and Te Ao Maori (the Maori world view) in training now which brings diverse meaning and consideration to some of the things we discuss. My efforts to increase my knowledge are sincere and curious and I appreciate caregivers and my colleagues who gently correct me when needed.
With COVID-19, it has been very difficult to plan for any events. However, I’m hopeful a Christmas event and/or school holiday gatherings will be able to go ahead now we are in level one. Please get in touch if you have any good ideas or would like to be involved with our events!
Family Fun Days
FAMILY FUN DAYS are going ahead this year! I look forward to joining caregivers in Whanganui and New Plymouth at this year’s events.
