May is upon us and for many of us, it would feel like this year is moving so fast. This time last year we were well into our National lock-down and getting so good at Zooming. If someone had told me that one day, I wouldn’t know what Zooming is and I would have laughed. But alas here we are now, and it is a part of our new “norm”.
This month we celebrate Mother’s Day. To all our mums who share their hearts with our children in care, can I say a very heartfelt “THANK YOU”. You are truly amazing women who give so much and ask for so little in return. I hope you know how precious you are.

Join us on Friday 21 May 2021 as we Kōrero Mai, Kōrero Atu, Mauri Tū, Mauri Ora – Speak Up, Stand Together, Stop Bullying! Celebrated annually around the globe, Pink Shirt Day began in Canada in 2007 when two students took a stand against homophobic bullying after a peer was bullied for wearing a pink shirt. In Aotearoa, Pink Shirt Day works to create schools, workplaces, communities, and whānau where everyone feels safe, valued, and respected.
Sometimes it can feel a bit lonely as a caregiver, working from home with little or no communication from other adults. If you would like to connect with other caregivers, I invite you to be a part of our Facebook whānau. This is a closed Facebook group open only to caregivers that are members of Caring Families Aotearoa and provides a safe forum for caregivers to connect, share experiences, seek advice, tips, or even recipes.
There are two groups within the Auckland South / Waikato / Hauraki region.
The first group is called Caring Families Aotearoa South Auckland Support and services the South Auckland region.
