Kia ora everyone,

I trust this message finds you in good health and high spirits. It’s time once more to share a brief update on the recent occurrences within our community.

To kick things off, I’ve recently returned to work after taking some time off to recover from a back injury. Thankfully, I’m now back in action.

Exciting news on the personal front: my family and I have invested in a caravan, opening up endless possibilities for future holidays and adventures. We’re thrilled about the prospects ahead and can’t wait to embark on new journeys. Feel free to share your own tales of adventure and discovery. Let’s keep the spirit of exploration alive within our community!

A recent win…

I just wanted to share a positive development in one of my recent support cases – last month, we achieved a significant victory in a long-standing permanency case, which has now commenced its final stages. It’s evident that the caregivers are overjoyed with this positive development.

Training

I’m thrilled to announce an upcoming training opportunity for next term! I’ll be hosting Christine, our Central North Regional Coordinator, for an engaging, in-person training session. We are in the final stages of planning and considering various options, so we’ll keep you informed. Stay tuned to our Private Facebook page or our training calendar (below) for updates and training details.

Events

I’m eagerly anticipating Matariki celebrations this year, along with all the other exciting events lined up throughout the year.  I’ll keep you informed closer to the time on the events that are happening in our region.

Our region is lucky to be hosting ‘Lift Off’ a new annual children’s festival which will be taking place at Toitoi – Hawke’s Bay Arts & Events Centre these school holidays; I thought some of you may be intersted in attending with your tamariki!

The festival is designed for 3-13 year olds and aims to ignite young imaginations and creativity. There is a mix of free workshops and performances, as well as ticketed events. Be sure to click below for more information and to reserve your spot for any of the ticketed events.

Support

I’m excited to share that I’m working on re-establishing support groups in Napier, Hastings, and Gisborne. These support groups aim to provide a safe and nurturing space for individuals to come together, share experiences, and offer support to one another.

However, to make this vision a reality, I need your help! I’m reaching out to all those interested in being part of this supportive community. Whether you’re looking for assistance, companionship, or simply want to contribute positively to the lives of others, your involvement is crucial.

By joining forces, we can create a network of understanding and compassion that uplifts and empowers each member. So, if you’re keen to be part of this journey or know someone who might benefit from it, please don’t hesitate to reach out and let me know.

Together, let’s make a difference in our communities and in each other’s lives. I eagerly await your responses and look forward to the opportunity to connect with you all.

Mā te wā (bye for now)
