Can you believe it’s already April? March seemed to whisk by in a whirlwind of activity! I’ve been busy with travels across the country, dedicated to supporting, advocating for, and celebrating caregivers like you.
Early in the month, I had the privilege of attending the Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy Institute hosted by Compass in Palmerston North. It was an enlightening experience delving into Level One of Dyadic Developmental Practice Psychotherapy & Parenting alongside the incredible Dr. Sian Phillips. Each moment brought me closer to my goal of becoming a DDP Practitioner, and I can’t wait to share what I’ve learned with you all.
Following that, I was honoured to attend the Excellence of Foster Care Awards, where we celebrated outstanding caregivers from the Lower South region: Andrea & John Faulks, and Margaret & Phillip Hemopo. The event was held at Government House in Wellington and provided a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow recipients and esteemed guests, including the new Minister of Children, Honorable Karen Chhour, and Her Excellency The Rt Hon Dame Cindy Kiro, the Governor General. Congratulations once again to our deserving recipients, whose contributions are the very heartbeat of our Lower South community.
Immediately after the awards, I visited the Lower South to participate in Foster Care Awareness Week Events. The turnout and support were truly heartening, with many new faces joining us. It’s evident that the community in the Lower South is vibrant and thriving, and I’m deeply grateful for your trust in both myself and Caring Families Aotearoa. From dinners in Cromwell to pampering sessions in Dunedin and guided meditations in Invercargill, the laughter and shared experiences were truly uplifting. Thank you to everyone who attended; your willingness to step outside your comfort zones and engage in these events is truly commendable.
Finally, I returned last week for the beginning of Foundations of Attachment Training in Mosgiel with Rob & Sally. I’m thrilled for those of you attending this incredible four-week course and can’t wait to see what you’ll uncover and discover together.
Thank you for your ongoing support and dedication. Together, we’re making a real difference in our communities. Have a safe and wonderful April school holidays!
Training
We have limited training available in April due to the school holidays, but our term two calendar will be available soon through this link (due to be published during the holidays) so make sure you check back in for updates on what workshops will be available.
