Happy dry July everyone!

With school holidays just around the corner our whānau are looking at some nana-friendly activities to do over the holidays.  I have five primary school-aged tamariki and one who is itching to escape the creativity and freedom of Kindy.  After a discussion over a large bucket of feijoas, we decided that each of us was to come up with two do-able holiday activities.  One inside and one outside.  We have put all of the ideas into Papa’s cowboy hat and on a day in the holidays when we can’t decide what we can do, we’ll dip in and choose one and go with it.  I’m not going to lie,  I am a little afraid of what’s in store.  It’s kind of like being on a mystery bus tour with lunatics at the wheel but with an attitude of Playfulness, I’m sure I’ll be coming back with some good holiday stories.

TRAINING

As always we take a break from training during the holidays.  The new training calendar is available now for you to have a look at when the tamariki are back at school.  The workshops are not just about learning new trauma informed, therapeutic parenting info, they are also a way to connect with other caregivers who understand the commitment required to do what you do.  Have a look at the training calendar and see what interests you.

SUPPORT

The FASD Waikato Roopu are meeting again this month.  We had a lovely get-together in Hamilton and I’m looking forward to connecting again.  If you have a child with FASD and you would like to connect with others please give me a call and come along.

We have two closed facebook groups in our region.

The Auckland South Support group

The Waikato / Hauraki Support group

The monthly virtual coffee groups are still happening.  You can either register for the day or evening session.  It’s a good way to connect with other caregivers as well as a Regional Coordinator.  Find out more Here.
