Tena koutou,
Wow, winter is well and truly here! With these cold days and nights, I hope you are keeping warm and indulging in some yummy winter meals! I have to say winter soups and stews are what I love best about these colder months.

As you all know we have had a rough few weeks with all sorts of bugs going around in our region and I hope you all have managed to stay free of these bugs or if they did find their way into your homes I hope you recovered well. In my house I have been making ginger, lemon and honey drinks for my tamariki which has helped relieve sore throats and is a nice way to just sit and korero around ways to keep ourselves healthy. A big thing in our home that is encouraged is washing hands and it’s nice hearing my tamariki reminding each other to wash their hands.
We had our first official Matariki holiday on June the 24th, what did you and your whānau/family do? We have started our planning for the coming year and the bigger kids have looked at what goals they want to achieve.

Training
This coming term we will be introducing a new training, available online and in-person, called Family Dynamics – ‘Torn Loyalties’ Conflicts for Children in Care. We’ll be exploring the range of emotions and possible tensions experienced by tamariki coming into a care family and how together with their caregiver/s they can navigate their connection with their biological family and any challenges that come with this experience.
