CEO Message February 2024

Kia ora koutou,

Welcome to 2024! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year with whānau and managed to enjoy some time outside in the sun. I trust the back-to-school transition went as smoothly as possible, and for those of you who are back at work, I hope you are feeling settled back into routine and ready to tackle another year!

A sad goodbye

At the end of last year, we said farewell to our National Support Manager, Stephanie, who had been with us for nearly 10 years. Stephanie was an incredible asset to our team, with both professional and personal experience in the care sector. We will miss her very much, but are excited about the next step she is taking as CEO of FASD-CAN. We are advertising for this role currently, if you know someone who could be a great fit for us please share our seek advert – click here.

Continuing our advocacy work…

One of our goals this year as an organisation is to continue our collaborative work with other NGOs on progressing our Care and Protection Green Paper (released last year, click here to read it if you haven’t already) to a White Paper.  The White Paper will be presented to government and offer our collective, high-level vision for the Care and Protection System in Aotearoa with the hope that it will form part of government policy. We’re looking forward to continuing this work with several passionate and knowledgeable people across the sector and hope it drives some positive changes!

What are your 2024 goals?

As we all settle back into routine, take some time to think about what your goals for the year might be. Do you have a project you’ve been wanting to start but haven’t made time for? Do you want to prioritise taking time for yourself? Do you want to put yourself out of your comfort zone by trying something new? Whatever it is, I hope your 2024 is full of growth, laughter, loved ones, and happiness.

Until next month, Tiaki i a koutou anō (look after yourselves).
