Meri Kirihimete – Merry Christmas
As Christmas draws closer, and the end of the year is in sight, I would like to take this moment to thank each and every one of you wonderful caregivers.
This year hasn’t been an easy one. With the emotional, physical and financial strains that Covid-19 inflicted on everyone, I am especially grateful for the amazing care you have provided for your families.
During the Covid-19 lockdown period, we had a goal to contact our whole membership, to check in and make sure things were running smoothly in your homes. While we didn’t quite manage to touch base with everyone, we did talk to a considerable number of caregiver families. Much of the feedback we received was positive, which confirmed what we already knew, that you are incredibly strong, resilient people.
As we head into 2021, we are excited to introduce our new strategic plan which will be in place from January 2021 to December 2024. It is an extremely ambitious plan, however we feel it is not only achievable but so important, as it motivates us at Caring Families Aotearoa to strive for the absolute best in supporting, training and advocating for caregivers.
I would like to thank the Caring Families Aotearoa Board and staff for their efforts over the past year. Without such a strong, committed team, we couldn’t achieve all that we do.
Over the Christmas break, I hope that you all find time to relax, spend time with your family, and re-energise for the year ahead. Always remember that self-care is never selfish. If your cup is empty, you cannot give your all to the children in your care. Take time for yourself, refill your cup. It is the most important thing you can do for yourself and your family.
Again, a big thank you to each and every one of you. Your commitment is unwavering, your love, unconditional. The team and I look forward to seeing you in 2021. Merry Christmas.
