Kia ora Koutou/Greetings everyone,

WOW, here we are in the closing month of 2023!  What a year it has been, with a few challenges and some successes, we made it through and can look forward to bringing in 2024 with our loved ones.

From my whānau and I, I want to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.  Whatever your plans may be, keep safe, have fun and enjoy the time with your whanau.  Don’t forget to give yourself permission to have some you time, it is worth it!!!!

It has been a full on year for many of us, and I want to thank you all, I am very fortunate to have shared some special and wonderful moments with you!  Forming new relationships has been a highlight for me as I know how important it is to have positive, supportive relationships, especially in our space of caring for our tamariki. So, thank you all it has been a privilege!

We still have two Family Fun Days this month, the Rotorua Pool Party on the 3rd of December and the Tauranga Family Fun Day on the 17th of December.  Hope to see you there and look forward to catching up with you and enjoying the day.

We will be having our last two Support Group meetings in December.  Details are below:

Tauranga Support Group

  • 56 Eighteenth Ave, Tauranga
  • 10am – 12pm
  • 1st of December 2023

Rotorua Support Group

  • 1192 Pukuatua Street, Rotorua
  • 10am – 12pm
  • 15th of December 2023

I will be on leave from the 22nd of December through to the 15th of January.  My new working week will be 9am – 3.45pm, Monday to Thursday.

Our National Office will be closed from Friday 22nd December 2023 to Monday 8th January 2024. For urgent matters involving an allegation please call 0800 693 278.  For all other urgent matters please call your Agency.  For non-urgent matters please leave National Office a message on 0800 693 323 or email, and they will get back to you when they return.

I will end by acknowledging the amazing role you all play in providing a safe and healing home for the tamariki/rangatahi in your care.  This festive season is a time for love, joy and sharing, but can also present some challenges with family dynamics, so be PACE-ful with yourselves and your whānau/family.

Stay safe and enjoy the holidays and I look forward to reconnecting with you in 2024.

Chris
