Ngā mihi ki te whānau o Caring Families Aotearoa
2023 is rapidly drawing to a close and thoughts of holiday time at home or with whānau and friends are filling me with excitement. As my two year old moko says “I’m escited Nanny!”
I’ve felt the privilege of hearing stories of struggle and success from many of you in your caregiving adventures. You are all in my thoughts and prayers as you prepare for the challenges and changes that this time of year so often brings due to household and family dynamics. So many of you deserve medals for the energy you spend keeping children safe and family members connected.
Please take time for you, some way, somehow. As the Making Changes training module reminds us, take time to Rest, Relax and Reflect; balance those Demands and Resources and do whatever it takes to make your ‘background noise’ the peaceful, reviving sounds (Christmas carols maybe?) and not the ‘sharks-circling’ type that busyness and exhaustion can bring.
Find beauty in your world this holiday season. Here’s some from my garden.
My last day of work this year will be Wednesday 20 December, and I will be returning on Tuesday 23 January. Our National Office will be closed from Friday 22nd December 2023 to Monday 8th January 2024. For urgent matters involving an allegation please call 0800 693 278. For all other urgent matters please call your Agency. For non-urgent matters please leave National Office a message on 0800 693 323 or email, and they will get back to you when they return.
Kia Tau ki a Tatou Katoa/Calmness to You All
