Face Your Future 2022

On Wednesday 28th & Thursday 29th September we took 29 care experienced rangatahi to the 13th Face Your Future.  This year Face Your Future had a makeover!!! For the first time in its 13 year history, this year’s event was an overnight camp for ALL attendees (from Auckland and outside of Auckland) at Camp Motu Moana Blockhouse Bay, Auckland.

Hosted by L’Oréal New Zealand and in partnership with Caring Families Aotearoa and VOYCE Whakarongo Mai, Face Your Future will focuses on positive and inspiring stories from people who have pushed through some tough times in their lives to go on and be super successful in their personal lives, businesses, and careers.

The two days were packed full of fun interactive workshops and inspirational speakers sharing their stories on how they have pushed through their tough times to achieve their dreams. There was also opportunities for break away sessions to get the rangatahi moving, an Amazing Race, archery, a campfire, and time to make new friends.

We had some wonderful feedback with one young man saying “It was the absolute best- the food was amazing- I had never had bacon and eggs before! It was so fun- all the activities were amazing- speakers were really good and very relatable- I really hope they have another one cause it was so much fun!”

Caregiver of youth who attended Face Your Future this year sent us this email:

“I just wanted to say a big thank you for accommodating *name* on this course.

She had a fantastic time and is already asking if she can go again next time! She has come back full of enthusiasm and confidence.  (Long may it last!)

She said it was really useful listening to other peoples experiences and felt really comfortable that they were all foster kids.  She has made some friendships also which is very positive as being in a small town there really isn’t any kids that she has “clicked” with here.

Please pass a really big thank you on to all those involved.  It was well worth it and I hope it continues for other kids like *name*.”

We know that all the rangatahi who attended will have taken at least one thing from their experience at Face Your Future, one thing that will help them to reach for the stars.

(Thanks to the generosity of some of our wonderful donors, we were able to pay the flights for some of the rangatahi who attended.)

Every year Face Your Future is held, if you have a rangatahi in your care that is aged between 16 to 18 who is interested in attending next year, please get in touch with us to express your interest. events@caringfamilies.org.nz
