Kia ora e hoa mā,
I hope you are keeping warm and well as we head briskly towards the mid-year mark. Many of you have asked if there will be some face-to-face evening workshops available for those that work during the day and have other commitments. Well, exciting news! Coming up on Thursday 13 June, we’ll have our first evening workshop in Glendene – we’ll be learning about the building blocks of a trauma-informed, therapeutic parenting approach. Refreshments will be provided but feel free to bring along ‘last-night’s-dinner-leftovers’ to heat up and enjoy during the session.

EVENTS
Last month we had the opportunity to ‘Connect & Relax’ at our central Auckland caregivers’ event; a big ‘thank you’ to those who came along to make it such a special time celebrating the wins and reflecting on the challenges that make up life as a caregiver. It was great to do this alongside relaxing massages from Body Balance, Head2Toe, Life Me Up and our other wonderful event partners. Our time together reminded me that ‘looking after ourselves’ or ‘self-care’ looks different for all of us. For some of us it’s a walk outside with our dog, or gardening; others enjoy popping in sound cancelling earphones for a song and an impromptu dance; sometimes it’s wrapping our cold hands around a cup of tea in our favourite seat before the kids wake up or heading out for some fishing. What helps you take a moment to pause, catch your breath, feel lighter or get rid of some of the ‘stress’ energy?
Do you have any ideas on how we can bring Auckland caregiver members together for the remainder of 2024? What would you like to see in your area? What would you support? Feel free to click the button below to email me and share your ideas.
Support Groups
I would love to hear from you if you’re interested in having a caregiver group in your local area. These groups aim to provide a safe and nurturing space for individuals to come together, share experiences, and offer support to one another. Feel free to share your thoughts about what you’d like a group to look like (location, day, or time) and any other brilliant brainwaves you might have! Below are the current groups available this month.
Westgate Area
I am interested in hearing from you if you’re keen to catch up with other caregivers in the Massey/Westgate area. Get in touch here.
