June 2024 Lower South Caregiver News
Jared Paranihi
Kia ora Lower South caregivers, it is with a heavy heart that we share the below message from your Regional Coordinator, Jared:
Dear Lower South Caregiver Community,
As I sit down to write this email, my heart is filled with a mix of emotions. It is with both sadness and excitement that I share the news of my resignation from Caring Families Aotearoa.
Working alongside each and every one of you over the years has been an incredible honour and privilege. Together, we’ve embarked on a journey of growth, support, advocacy, and teaching in therapeutic parenting. This journey has not only enriched my professional life but also deeply touched my heart on a personal level.
The bonds we’ve formed, the challenges we’ve faced, and the victories we’ve celebrated together hold a special place in my heart. I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to have been welcomed into your homes and lives, and to have shared in your dedication and passion for caregiving.
I have the utmost confidence in Caring Families Aotearoa to continue their incredible work in supporting our caregiver community. They have been amazing, and I know they will continue to offer the invaluable support and resources that you all need.
Thank you, from the depths of my heart, for allowing me into your lives and for the privilege of working alongside you. Though my time in this role may be coming to an end, I am certain that our paths will cross again. Until then, please take care, and keep doing the amazing job you are doing for our tamariki in care.
Nga mihi
Jared
Although it has been a sad farewell to Jared, we are very excited to welcome on board our wonderful new Regional Coordinator, Stacey, who will be supporting the Lower South region from Monday 10th of June!
Kia ora!
My name is Stacey Penrose and I live in a settlement south of Dunedin called Taieri Mouth. I have been working with caregivers and children in care for the last 20 years, including being a whānau and non-whānau caregiver during this time. I have four tamariki, with my eldest three being in my permanent care and all four help keep me busy and on my toes!
I have recently completed my Masters in Community and Social work and look forward to being part of the team supporting caregivers in Otago and Southland.
Training
Please look out for our new training module: HeArt of Healing Care, which will help you understand developmental trauma and how it can impact so many developmental areas for your child. With this understanding, you can respond in a therapeutic way.
Click below to check the training calendar for our online modules too, as winter months mean we will have less opportunity for face-to-face trainings.
Support
If you require any support before our new Regional Coordinator starts, please contact our National Office on 0800 693 323.
In the meantime, please join our Lower South Facebook group to keep informed of any support groups running in your area.
