Kia ora
I hope your tamariki had a smooth transition back to school and that the first few weeks back have gone without too many hiccups. We know that for some children the return to school isn’t easy, there can be high levels of anxiety, and a display of behaviours that make you think, “Where did that come from?”
Don’t forget about our training that can help support you on your caregiver journey. Our ‘Difficult Behaviours – Managing Confrontation and Intimidating Interactions’ workshop can help unpick some of these behaviours, and this month’s Ako Ngātahi (Learning Together) sessions will teach you about attachment theory, and help you to reassess the way you respond to your child. Both of these trainings are online so you can participate from the comfort of your home.
Our Family Fun Days have officially kicked off too! This is a chance for you to spend time with your whānau, away from the everyday obstacles that can sometimes stop us from connecting. I really encourage you to head along to one of these events in the coming months if you can make it – to find out locations, dates, and registration details, click here
Lastly, many of you will remember Maureen, who worked in our Critical Support Team for a number of years and supported countless caregivers going through difficult times. Rob and I visited Maureen recently to celebrate her 80th birthday! You will be pleased to know she still has her wicked sense of humour.
If you need support, remember Caring Families Aotearoa is always here to help. You can call us on 0800 693 323.
Noho ora mai (stay well)
