Kia ora koutou / Hello everyone,
What extraordinary times we find ourselves in with the COVID 19 pandemic. Although the atmosphere seems charged at the moment; Caregivers I am having contact with are doing a great job providing extra scaffolding around their children, providing security through understanding and continuity in their day to day care.
Arohanui to all of you, stay in touch and connect socially but not physically. Reach out to your fellow caregivers, support is so important at this time.

Foster Care Awareness Week
Here’s a Snapshot of the Foster Care Awareness Week events in our region at the start of March:
Caregivers and social workers came together for three great events in the Lower South to celebrate the awesomeness of our carers and the amazing work you all do for our communities.
We had a great car rally one evening. We were put into teams, travelled about Invercargill on a scavenger hunt eventually arriving at the Woodlands Tavern in Eastern Southland where we heard Reinga Bloxham, the coach for the Southern Steel netball team speak. We had some good fun and some great laughs while enjoying supper together. The feedback we had was great.
We also had an event in Gore where Rob Thompson, our Brainwave Kaiako (teacher), presented Nurturing our Tamariki. After a great presentation we enjoyed a yummy lunch together.
Next was a luncheon in Central Otago at the lovely Monte Christo Raspberry Café where we sat outside in the sun and enjoyed each other’s company over lunch.
I apologise to Fiordland for not being able to hold your dinner and training as planned. Perhaps when we get out the other side of ridding this virus from our shores!
Thank you again to all the caregivers of Southland, Fiordland, the Lakes District and Central Otago for the amazing work you do for our communities. It is really appreciated. Thank you, thank you, thank you. 😊
