Shout out to Kaikohe Caregivers for turning up to Pizza in the Park on March 23. We had a lot of fun and food, plus a great catch-up for caring families who don’t often get to socialise.
In February I had an FASD support chat at my office, 16A Finlayson Street, Whangārei (March postponed due to my moko arriving) and would love to see you at the next one. This will be on Tuesday 13 April and 4 May 2021 from 10.30 am – 12 noon.

Training
Thanks for your Feedback: TRAINING – National Caregiver Training Programme
We really do appreciate your feedback. This last year has been an unsettling time. We know we’ve postponed trainings due to the COVID alert levels fluctuating and people’s apprehension in returning to workshops in the aftermath of alert level changes. We know we’ve cancelled trainings due to low numbers. We’ve been working on a new training registration system that hasn’t always been as responsive to you as we would have liked. We’ve heard that this has affected your confidence in what we can provide. We apologise that this has been the experience of some of you. We believe very strongly in the importance of Caregiver learning and so are very aware of what we need to clearly communicate to you going forward. There will be some changes from July, we will let you know once the details have been confirmed. Thank you once again for your feedback.
Recently I presented my first online module, Legal Information for Caregivers. I have appreciated the experience and have had great participation by caregivers, both new and experienced, joining from all around ngā motu/the islands.
It’s great that offering online training can be accessed by any of our members anywhere throughout the country. It’s certainly a different way of learning but you still have caregivers sitting in a virtual room with you. We’re trying to offer them not only during the day but evenings and weekend sessions too. Click the button below to see our trianing schedule and register, we will be adding Term 2 soon. See you there virtually!
Thanks to Kaikohe OT, Voyce Whakarongo Mai and Ngapuhi Iwi Social Services for the tautoko.
Heading home after a great day In Kaikohe.
I hope all of our Caregiver Members registered for the ‘Night on Us’ – Pizza deal. Our household certainly did!. Many thanks to Dominos, (nice to find out how community-minded they are!) and to Caring Families Aotearoa. Thanks to one of our regional members for her photo – lots of enjoyment and of course a night off cooking! Can’t beat that.
“CFA you made our day! Thank you! #Dominopizza #notjustthe$5pizzas #thegoodones! #justformumanddad #youguysonlylikethecheesycheeseanyway”
