With all the short work weeks and school holidays done and dusted (hope you had some fun!) a new term of scheduled online and in person trainings are loaded onto our website. I’m looking forward to our hui-a-kanohi ki te kanohi (face to face gatherings).
I took advantage of the short weeks and had an extended Easter break celebrating the marriage of one of my beautiful daughters who lives in the Ahipara aka Far North (Paradise) – a wonderful time of whānau love and joy. I hope you’re making time to celebrate, even recognizing the little achievements in life help to fill our ‘love cup’ so we have reserves through the trickier times.
I also harvested my revered kūmara patch and below are the results…another reason to celebrate in our whare. The largest weighs just under 2 kgs…what a feast we will have-the little riwai (potatoes) were self-sown…yummo!!

Training
Difficult Behaviours-Managing Confrontation and Intimidating Behaviours. This explores the reasons why tamariki can regularly be confrontational and why it’s important to step aside from that confrontation. This workshop also looks at the different ways of managing confrontation, so you don’t get pulled into it.
The second training workshop we are offering is an introduction to Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). This training increases knowledge and awareness to better understand FASD, a brain-based disability. We look at how FASD affects tamariki in their ability to be able to respond or behave as we might want or expect them to. This programme also explores strategies for parenting and working with tamariki affected by FASD.
