Kia ora e te whānau

Well here we have it, Autumn. Darker mornings are happening already and the change from daylight savings hours mean a check in with smoke alarms. Change those batteries!  It is also a time to reflect on the crazy days of summer and all the happenings going on around us and our tamariki. I don’t know about you, but I have certainly been feeling the pinch with the cost of living expenses rising and the exorbitant price of petrol.  The pennies sure have to stretch further than they did this time last year. Here are some resources that a colleague has shared that may be of use to you during these times.

Please use the community resources available in your areas to top up your grocery shop, the bread, veges etc are well within their best by dates from what I see and can make all the difference in saving you dollars. I know the Tahunanui Community Hub that I am based at, have very yummy breads available on Mon- Wed-Fri from 1-2.30pm and will soon have a pantry that is available all the time for non-perishable donated items.

Thanks to those that have attended our Making Changes workshop this term, it sure has been difficult to navigate the wave of Omicron that has affected the numbers able to attend, but I thoroughly enjoyed our luncheons afterwards and I look forward to next term’s workshops where we tackle ‘Difficult Behaviours’.

Keep an eye on the Facebook page for any news in the region and if you wish to share an event then please do so.

Our next coffee group in Nelson is Monday 11 April at the Tahunanui Community Hub in Muritai Street 10am.

Take care and stay safe

Denise
